2024 Legacy Award Luncheon

October 24, 2024 | 11:30am - 1:30pm ET

Heathrow Country Club, 1200 Bridgewater Drive, Heathrow, FL 32746

Modern Widows Club will present the 2024 Movement for Widow Care Legacy Award to Deborah K. Marshall on Thursday, October 24th at the Heathrow Country Club in Lake Mary, Florida.

Each year MWC presents the Legacy Award to individuals or organizations that exemplify extraordinary dedication to empowering widows and uplifting their communities on a global scale. Recipients of this prestigious honor demonstrate unparalleled excellence, embodying the highest virtues of nobility, humility, compassion and resilience. They are paragons of heroic leadership, consistently going above and beyond in their service to others. Their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to making a profound difference in the lives of widows and their communities sets them apart as true beacons of hope and inspiration.

“We are honored to recognize Deborah, a local hero, with this national award,” said MWC Founder Carolyn Moor. Deborah is the Chief Operating Officer of the American Fundraising Foundation (AmFund), a national organization based in Maitland, Florida, and Administrator of the American Fundraising Educational Foundation, a Federally recognized 501(c)3 organization where she oversees funding support for over 700 nonprofit organizations across the country. AmFund, with its tagline “We Fund Your Cause,” has raised nearly $60 million for various charitable initiatives.

Deborah was instrumental in negotiating a landmark joint venture between a public hospital system and a large Catholic healthcare system, showcasing her ability to navigate complex stakeholder dynamics. Deborah’s deep understanding of the challenges faced by nonprofit organizations in securing funding and navigating grant cycles led to her being named Fundraiser of the Year by Nonprofit Pro in 2020. During the pandemic, when nonprofits were forced to pivot to virtual events, Deborah spearheaded the development of educational programs, digital platforms, and production tools that enabled organizations to thrive despite the rapidly changing landscape.

She now travels the country as a motivational keynote speaker and facilitator. Her contributions extend beyond the nonprofit sector. She has also been recognized by the Washington Press Club for her outstanding service in public relations. Deborah has been a widow since December 1, 2022, following the passing of her husband of 25 years and is a resident of Lake Mary, Florida.

Tickets and sponsorship opportunities can be purchased by visiting: https://modernwidowsclub.kindful.com or by calling 1-844-4-A-WIDOW. For those unable to attend the event, donations can also be accepted at the same website.
