Through Modern Widows Club®’s LEAD program, you can explore your leadership gifts and become a Community Advocate, creating meaningful opportunities for widowed women to connect, grow, and build community locally or online.
How to Start Your Own Community
Step One: Take the Widow Empowerment Quiz (WEQ)
Women interested in becoming Community Advocates must complete the Widow Empowerment Quiz, be in the Grow or Lead stages of the Healthy Widowhood Pathway, and be at least two years into widowhood.
Step Two: Complete LEAD: Part 1
Our self-paced e-course introduces you to Modern Widows Club®, the Community Advocate role, and what it takes to build a thriving community. You’ll reflect on your strengths, explore your readiness for leadership, and learn how MWC supports its communities.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin.
Step Three: Apply, Interview, and Prepare to Launch
After completing LEAD: Part 1, you can submit your application and meet with MWC to discuss your interests, questions, and readiness for leadership. Following a successful interview, you’ll receive guidance on the next steps, including LEAD: Part 2 and preparing to launch your community.
MWC encourages multiple advocates to share responsibilities and build a sustainable community. You’ll receive training, resources, and ongoing guidance along the way, with Heather Price, Membership & Programs Manager, as your primary contact for day-to-day advocate support.
